about

History

Born and raised in Gig Harbor, Washington, Patrick started college at Western Washington University where he was admitted to study music on a piano scholarship. Being called to practice law, he transferred to the University of Washington, earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in political science, and began legal studies in 2008 at Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. During law school, Patrick discovered his passion for advocacy and the courtroom through incredible opportunities, including winning moot court championship oral arguments before the late Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia and successfully litigating cases as a third year law student. Patrick also earned a Master of Science Degree in negotiation and dispute resolution. In this way, he cultivated the training, knowledge, and tools to engage conflict productively and effectively inside or outside of the courtroom. Shortly after graduating in 2011 Patrick was hired by Creighton University as a supervising attorney for the law school's clinical program. Here he represented hundreds of clients, created new and innovative legal service programs, developed curriculum, lectured, and supervised third year law students in the practice of law.

In late 2016, Patrick and his wife moved to Port Angeles, Washington where they couldn't be happier. Following a period of working in Pierce County, Patrick was eager to engage with the local legal community and serve the residents of Clallam and Jefferson Counties. Hence the Law Office of Patrick M. Erker was born. Patrick’s exceptional level of enthusiasm, passion, and nuanced perspective makes the Law Office of Patrick M. Erker the holistic estate planning/probate and guardianship/ conservatorship solution for individuals, agencies, and organizations.

Patrick M. Erker, JD, MS

Patrick started his litigation career representing survivors of domestic violence in high-conflict family law cases at Creighton University School of Law. In October 2013 he was tasked with creating a Housing Law Project where he handled hundreds of landlord tenant cases, worked with housing authorities, and assisted the EPA with child lead poisoning cases. He also handled a multitude of real property litigation including judgment executions and clearing title, as well as estate planning and probate in the form of wills, trusts, and powers of attorney. This work segued into a guardianship/conservatorship practice, where Patrick found a passion in working with special needs minors, vulnerable adults, and their families. After moving home to Washington State and entering the Bar in late 2016, Patrick served as general counsel for a Pierce County based non-profit tasked with securing safe and sustainable housing for at-risk young adults. Although this was important and meaningful work, Patrick missed his estate planning, probate, guardianship, and conservatorship practice and the courtroom. Therefore, upon learning of the need for this service in his community, he established the Law Office of Patrick M. Erker, a probate, guardianship, and conservatorship law office. Patrick is excited to offer his expertise, passion, creative problem solving, and service oriented practice style to the residents, agencies, and organizations of the Olympic Peninsula.
